Objectives
Activity Objectives
- To develop an approach to the assessment and initial management of patients presenting with lesions suspicious for skin cancer (e.e. actinic keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, melanoma).
- To demonstrate an understanding of the risk factors for the development of cancers and a culturally competent approach to counselling patients on preventative measures (e.g. sunscreen and sun protection).
- To apply an approach to use of common dermatology procedures with lesions suspicious for skin cancer (e.g. punch biopsy, shave biopsy, excisional biopsy, curettage and electrodessication).
- To recognize the presentation of skin cancer in patients with different skin tones
