The Laporte family, living in Thorold, Ontario, consists of a 39 year old single-parent working mother who has a 15 year old son, and a 12 year old daughter. Only the mother (Bernice) and son (Isadore) are in attendance today Bernice is concerned about Isadore's recently-acquired use of alcohol and marijuana, which she believes is having an effect on his sleep patterns, mood, and leading to decreased interest in school and an increasing disconnection from her and extended family members
